Marine Crankshaft Supplier & Reconditioning Experts

Supplying fully inspected, standard-size & undersize marine engine crankshafts sourced from Alang ship breaking yard.

Your Trusted Source for Marine Crankshafts

Replacing a marine crankshaft is one of the most critical and expensive repairs a vessel can undergo. At UTS Marine LLP, we source high-quality, reusable crankshafts directly from decommissioned vessels at the Alang Ship Breaking Yard. By reclaiming original OEM crankshafts, we provide fleet managers and ship owners with a highly cost-effective, readily available alternative to long OEM factory lead times.

Engine Model Coverage

We maintain a large inventory of crankshafts for both 2-stroke main propulsion engines and 4-stroke auxiliary generators. Our stock frequently includes:

MAN B&W

L16/24, L23/30, L27/38, L32/40 Series

Wärtsilä

Vasa 32, W32, L20, W46 Series

Yanmar

EY18, N330, M200, M220, T240 Series

Daihatsu & MaK

DK-20, DK-28, M20, M25 Series

Our Stringent Quality Assurance & Inspection

Before any marine crankshaft leaves our facility, it undergoes a rigorous inspection protocol to ensure it meets strict OEM tolerances and is free from fatigue or damage.

  • Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI)We perform Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) using MPI on all journal surfaces, focusing heavily on the critical fillet radii and oil holes to detect any subsurface micro-cracks or fatigue stress fractures.
  • Dimensional CalibrationUsing precision micrometers, our engineers measure the main and crankpin journals across two axes at multiple points to accurately check for journal ovality and taper.
  • Run-out & Deflection CheckThe crankshaft is mounted on V-blocks to measure total indicator reading (TIR) run-out, guaranteeing the shaft's straightness and ensuring perfect main bearing alignment upon installation.
  • IACS Class CertificationUpon request, we arrange for an independent surveyor from an IACS classification society (such as DNV, ABS, or Lloyd's Register) to witness the tests and issue a class certificate for the crankshaft.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are your used marine crankshafts standard size?

+

Yes, the vast majority of our salvaged marine crankshafts are standard size. We use high-precision micrometers to check all journals for ovality and taper against OEM tolerances. If grinding is required, we can supply crankshafts machined to the first or second undersize limit along with matching undersize bearings.

Do you supply class certificates for reconditioned crankshafts?

+

Absolutely. For critical main propulsion or essential auxiliary engines, we can arrange for inspection and certification by major IACS classification societies (such as DNV, Lloyd's Register, ABS, or ClassNK) prior to shipment.

How are crankshafts packaged for safe global shipping?

+

To prevent corrosion and bending during transit, every crankshaft is thoroughly coated with Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI) oil, wrapped in VCI plastic, and securely bolted to custom-built, heavy-duty fumigated wooden crates suitable for sea or air freight.
