Daihatsu Spare Parts Buying Guide: DK28, 6DK20 and Auxiliary Engine Components

Daihatsu auxiliaries are everywhere in Asian-built tonnage and run punishing schedules. Their spares market is deep — here is how to buy the good metal in it.

What Wears on a Daihatsu

DK28 and 6DK20 units typically come out of vessels with very high hours but steady maintenance — Japanese owners tend to follow the manual. The inspection focus is therefore less about abuse and more about honest end-of-life assessment:

  • Crankshafts: standard-size shafts command a premium because they drop straight in. Our standard-size 8DK28 crankshaft is exactly that proposition; the 6DK20 shaft suits both marine and power-generation duty. Both carry the full journal/run-out/MPI pack from our verification routine.
  • Cylinder heads and blocks: cooling-space condition first, everything else second. The 8DK-28 crankshaft and associated top-end parts we list have passed hydro and crack inspection — hold every supplier to that bar.
  • Fuel equipment: Bosch-type inline pumps and unit injectors; demand pop pressures and delivery-volume figures, not visual approval.

Coverage

The DK28 platform anchors our Daihatsu stock through the Daihatsu desk, with weekly rotation in new arrivals. Daihatsu part numbers are precise — quote the full number from the manual cover page in your first message and skip the guesswork.
