Two Product Lines, One Discipline
On the engine side, Mitsubishi UEC low-speed units and the smaller auxiliary range share the maker's reputation for tight tolerances — which cuts both ways second-hand. A well-kept UEC part is superb; a neglected one rarely reconditions economically because the clearances leave no margin. On the air side, MET turbochargers are standard fit on countless vessels, and used cartridges, rotors and nozzle rings trade constantly.
Engine Parts: Measure, Don't Admire
- Liners and pistons: bore measurements at three heights plus ring-groove clearances. UEC liners with bore polishing at TDC are finished regardless of appearance.
- Fuel equipment: pop-test figures for injectors, plunger condition for pumps — scored lapped surfaces are irrecoverable.
- Crankshafts: the full journal/run-out/MPI routine in our verification guide applies without modification.
Turbocharger Parts: Balance Is Everything
A used MET rotor or cartridge is only as good as its balance certificate and blade condition. Demand: blade-tip clearance history, bearing-bore measurements, and a dynamic balance report — plus the run-down-time behavior notes from the donor engine if available. Sourcing
Mitsubishi stock moves through our Mitsubishi desk and weekly new arrivals. UEC part numbers are long and exact — quote them verbatim in your first message and include the turbocharger type plate data (MET series and size) for air-side enquiries.
